How Important is Siding?

September 19, 2013

When most people think about the siding on their home, they only think of the looks that it brings to the exterior of their house. Did you know that it does so much more than just make your home look beautiful in your neighborhood?

It protects against:

  • The elements such as wind, rain, hail, sleet, etc. and pests like termites and carpenter ants.
  • It shields your home from moisture leakage which can lead to mold, rot and internal damage.
  • It also seals your house against the cold winter weather and hot summer heat that we all know oh so well here in Kansas.

WHEN TO REPLACE

If your siding becomes damaged, it is extremely important to get it replaced right away. If the damage is not taken care of immediately, it could cause even further damage to your home. Just a few damaged patches could end up ruining the rest of it (and cost you more money in the end). When siding is placed, it is locked together with each piece supporting another. So if you leave the damage unattended to, it can cause the rest of it to tear or even fall off the house.
